Fleur de Napa has an ugly, unmemorable, label, and costs about $6. The ABV on this thing sits at 14%, which isn’t surprising. The thing is here, I don’t love it, nor hate it. As is typical, and expected, this is a peachy, citrusy wine, rich, a rather creamy mouthfeel, white pepper, moderate acid. It is interesting, that I can find this wine to be in possession of most of the basic attributes that I love in a savvy, and yet I’m still in a state of meh. What is it, the acid that makes it all work? I do reflect on this a lot, as I am, after all writing a single-variety blog. Perhaps, it’s what there is too much of, peaches, alcohol, weight, certainly not acid. This is a food wine for sure, as it is indeed entirely too heavy to drink alone. It wants Thai food, or some sort of rich seafood dish. I’m still wondering who has real estate in Napa, and wants to crank out $6.00 Sauvignon Blanc?

6 December 2020 I’m back in the big leather chair, Small Axe season 1, and parked next to a cheap bottle from Trader Joe’s.
